Second Season events

The year 2023, or the second summer season, was colorfully spent in the cultural center "Atmodas Dārzs". In total, more than 27 cultural events were held. From children's mornings, live music events, multi-DJ performances, dance nights, themed events, master classes and even story nights!

Season opening "wake up and discover"

On May 6, 2023, the opening event of the second season of culture and art "wake up and OPEN" took place in the cultural center "Atmodas Dārzs".  With this event, the second season of the cultural center began, so the celebration proceeded creatively - all day long! The festival program for the opening of the cultural center consisted of two parts - during the day, free creative events for families, discovering new experiences and inviting to a pleasant gathering. In the evening, at the climax of the festivities, the attractive concert of the group "Dziļi Violets" and Sanda Dejus. The opening event of the season "wake up and DISCOVER" was co-financed by the Liepāja Culture Board.

Zimejumu Teatris Jatakas

Zimejumu Teatris invited to discover the joy, openness and unpredictability of a child with the performance "Jatakas". The story in free trains of colors, in a whirlwind of dance and exciting adventures, interweaving the local and the exotic.

Creative workshops together with Solvita Bruže, Irita Timbra and Sintija Lasmane with the opportunity to discover the real joy of painting, creating art objects on stones and wood, as well as experiencing the inspiring process of making clay.

Kafejnīca KŪP BBQ

The open-air cafe and bar "Kūp BBQ" also started its second season together with "Atmodas Dārzs", which gave every visitor of the event the opportunity to taste the menu of the new season.

Dziļi Violets un Sanda Dejus

At the climax of the festivities, the colorful band "Dziļi Violets" gave a musical performance, and the improviser and radio voice Sanda Dejus took care of the positive festive atmosphere.


Photography competition "Karosta paradox"

As part of the opening event of the second season, a photo contest was organized, the main condition of which is that the photo must be taken in the territory of Karosta. The photo could have depicted people, landscapes, scenes of everyday life, etc. places, which, according to the author's creative imagination, correspond to the name "Karosta paradox". A total of 46 photos were submitted to the photo contest. As part of the opening event "wake up and DISCOVER", we awarded the 12 photos of the highest rated participants.

Season events

In the summer season program, we allowed to experience a wide range of emotions in creative events for both larger and smaller visitors to the cultural center, those who enjoy life, for the enjoyers of peace and restlessness. We invite you to familiarize yourself with a small overview of the events organized in the second season.

We invited you to learn the basic skills of salsa and bachata dance in open dance master classes. Everyone could participate - both dance enthusiasts and people who want to experience a wonderful evening and learn new skills!

Reinis JaunaisMusical concert

Concert with musicians Reinis Jaunais, ''The Flamenco Thief'' and writer Harry Vagrantas. In the joint concert of the artists, instrumental music interwoven with the poetry of various authors in the Latvian language.

"Silent disco" is diverse rhythms and different music styles performed by three DJs, real emotions, sing-alongs, bursts of joy, summer cocktails and, of course, dancing, dancing, dancing until dark!

In the evening of contemporary dance performances, it was possible to see choreographer Alisa Putniņa's show "Everything is in its place" and choreographer Dmitriy Gaitjukevich's show "Birds that don't migrate". Performers - students and graduates of the Contemporary Dance Program of the Riga Ballet School.

"Canis Group" Liepāja, kultūrvieta "Atmodas Dārzs"CHILDREN'S MORNINGS

The purpose of the children's morning events was to educate children about various professions, such as the work of firefighters and policemen, to involve them in creative master classes and to introduce the skills of the clever "Canis Group" Liepaja canine therapy dogs.

ADVENT EVENT "WINTERPORT"

Continuing the tradition, for the second year in the territory of the cultural center, Advent events "Winter" were held, which took place on December 3, 10 and 17, 2023. The program of events was designed according to families with children, with the aim of experiencing the excitement of Christmas and participating in a charity campaign, collecting donations for the Karosta non-profit organization "Hope for Children".

"Ziemosta" events were supported by: Liepāja Culture Board, catering service "Māras Lācis", "OHM.LV", printing studio "InCopy", printing studio "WindUp", "Gatvess" pastry shop and "Liepājas Papīrs".

At each event, visitors had the opportunity to watch small musical fairy tales with surprises "12 GIFTS FOR THE BEAR", where actress Karīna Tatarinova and musician duo Marta Kauliņa-Pelnēna and Mārtiņš Zālīte will invite everyone who likes winter and birthdays to visit. Text author - Anta Priedīte, lighting and video artists - Toms Streilis and Dainars Albužis.

cerība bērniemORGANIZATION "HOPE FOR CHILDREN"

"Hope for children" has been working with street children in Karosta since 2007. Every day, the house receives and provides one complex meal with hot food for 20 - 25 children of Karosta, Tosmare and Lauma districts, aged 7 to 17 years. Every day, she helps children with their studies, building their motivation and value orientation with various classes (handicrafts, music, etc.), as well as monitors the children's emotional well-being.

ORGANIZATION "HOPE FOR CHILDREN"

Liepāja businessmen and event visitors agreed on a common goal, the support of the Karosta non-profit organization.
The goal of the organization is to provide hope and recovery to those Latvian children and families who have fallen into crisis - due to poverty, loss of shelter, illness and/or addictions.
